Tribhuneshwar Saran Singh Dev (born 31 October 1952), also known as t. s. singh deo, is an Indian politician from Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. He served as the first Deputy C.M of Chhattisgarh from June 2023 to Dec 2023. He is also the present titular Maharaja of Surguja, based in Ambikapur. T. S. Singh Deo was the last patriarch to sit on the throne of Surguja.

Tribhuvaneshwar Saran Singhdeo, commonly referred to as TS Singhdeo or ‘TS Baba,’ represents the Ambikapur constituency in Chhattisgarh, an integral part of the Sarguja district. who holds a Master’s degree in History, first became an MLA in 2008. His political journey witnessed a significant boost when he was re-elected in 2013 and subsequently named the Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly. Despite hailing from a royal lineage and being one of the richest candidates in the state, Singhdeo has maintained a persona that resonates with the people, hence his endearing nickname ‘Maharaj.’
Singhdeo completed his schooling at St. Joseph’s College in Nainital and graduated from Hamidia College in Bhopal with a master’s degree in history. T. S. Singh Deo was interested in politics since his college days and joined the Congress party in 1977. He contested his first election in 1980 from Ambikapur Lok Sabha constituency but lost to BJP’s Dilip Singh Judeo. He contested again in 1984 and 1989 but lost both times.
T. S. Singh Deo shifted his focus to state politics and contested his first assembly election in 1998 from Sitapur constituency but lost to BJP’s Ram Pratap Singh. T. S. Singh Deo contested again in 2003 from Ambikapur constituency but lost to BJP’s Anurag Singh Deo. He finally won his first assembly election in 2008 from Ambikapur constituency by defeating BJP’s Ram Pratap Singh. He retained his seat in 2013 and 2018 by defeating BJP’s Anurag Singh Deo.

The career of Singh is started as the first Deputy C.M of Chhattisgarh. He is the richest member of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. He served as the Leader of the Opposition in the fourth Vidhan Sabha of Chhattisgarh. Currently, he is serving as the Health Minister in the Government of Chhattisgarh.
T.S Singh Dev has been elected from the Ambikapur assembly constituency three times since 2008, winning the recent 2018 elections by a margin of 39,624 against his BJP candidate Anurag Singh Dev.
He has been a very active politician in protests against the BJP government, which helped him bring his party to power with a vast majority in the 2018 Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha elections. He is a friendly face of the Congress in Chhattisgarh. T. S. Singh Deo was the richest applicant in the 2013 assembly elections.

He is credited with bringing several projects and schemes to Ambikapur and Surguja, such as road, bridges, hospitals, schools, colleges, power plants, irrigation facilities, etc. He is also known for his initiatives on the health and education sectors, such as providing free treatment for Covid-19 patients, launching telemedicine services, distributing sanitary napkins to girls, promoting organic farming, etc.
Chhattisgarh Deputy CM TS Singhdeo loses Ambikapur seat
Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and senior Congress leader T.S. Singhdeo was defeated in his Ambikapur seat, which he won in the last three elections. He lost to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Rajesh Agarwal — formerly with the Congress — by just 94 votes.
Ambikapur is part of Surguja Division of Chhattisgarh, which comprises 14 assembly constituencies. In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress cleared the region and also, won all 14 seats, apparently led by Singh Dev. In the 2013 elections, the BJP and Congress won 7 seats each.
